I am trying to accomplish following...

In an air application, where I am able to display arbritrary pdf files, stored on my local file system (hard disk), one at a time, by embedding the pdfs in htmlloader. This is similar to viewing a pdf file through a browser. The pdf files are displayed internally by adobe reader 9, installed on my system.

Now, as my application is kind of note taking tool, I want to extract/copy text by clicking a button on my Air application's interface. that means, by clicking some button on my application's interface, the selected text in the pdf-viewer window should be stored in a string variable or copied to the system clipboard.

I have already done this using adobe reader's built-in copy button on reader toolbar, visible in my htmlloader control in my application, and then retrieving the text from system clipboard, but it needs two clicks, one in reader and one in my application's paste button, so it is somewhat tedious, when there are many notes to be copied.

I suppose the adobe reader menu methods should be available externally through browser javascript. I have noticed AcroPDFinHTML example of acrobat SDK, but it works only on IE.

Please note that it is not about javascript embedded in pdf document, but browser javascript to control (send copy() function) embedded pdf document.

Any help on this is highly appreciated.

mits.
