Topic: Sequential Numbers on an Invoice

So I'm new to creating forms in Acrobat. I've got a form that I want to have the invoice number increase sequentially each time that the form is filled out. I've tried one Javascript that seems to work but I have to resave the file each time with the new data in it. If I save the file with a new name then the count doesn't increase. How do I correct this? Like I said this is using a script that I got from the web for free. I don't quite understand the javascript programming language, just in the most basic of terms. Anybody who can help me please post up. Thanks in advance!
