I was asked to post a PDF flyer for an upcoming event so members of the performing groups could print and distribute it. The PDF is available here:
Shortly after posting it, I received messages from a couple of people saying that part of the text was garbled. I tried pulling down the document on several computers myself, and as far as I can tell it looks fine, though I did notice that for one of the computers the overlaid text in a script font appeared for about a second as "ÂhÇ|Öâx iÉ|vxá?bÇx iÉ|vxÊ" instead of the English words ("Unique Voices, One Voice ...") and then corrected itself. I'm guessing that during this second the renderer was loading/building font information, but according to the folks who reported the problems the garbled display persists on their machines. I've tried to coach them through providing me with screen shots, but their level of computer sophistication is not up to that task. One of them did somehow get a plain text version of the garbled characters, which matches what I quoted above.
Is there something subtly wrong with the PDF? Acrobat (CS3) doesn't seem to think so, as it reports the document as compliant with current versions of the reader.
Thanks for any guidance you might be able to offer!
