I include an RGBA image in a PDF and the text on that page appears dark, almost bold. The effect disappears after a page break. I convert the image to RGB and the text appears normal.
The effect is most noticeable with Text rendering set to LCD/Flat screen at 40-50% zoom, but it's there no matter what.
The effect does not show up using Sumatra, Multivalent or Apple Preview; only in Adobe Reader (9.1) or Acrobat 8.
I'm creating the pdfs with pdflatex; converting the graphic to RGB fixes the problem. This looks like a bug to me, but I'd like to understand why it's happening.
The attached file has 3 pages. The first page includes the RGB image, the second the RGBA image (text is darkened) and the third uses the RGB image again.
