Topic: Inversion of grayscale TIF?

I'm using JASC PaintShopPro to create uncompressed grayscale TIF files which I then feed into a Capture v3.0.1 workflow. Much to my amazement, the grayscale images appear in an inverted or negative state in the Zone tool. (black shades become whites and vice versa.) This inversion carries through to the output PDF. Bitonal TIFs do not have this problem.
Has anyone else encountered this? Aside from the obvious fix of inverting each input TIF, so as to feed Capture grayscale "negatives", are there any other known fixes or better get-arounds?
