The best approach to a problem like this is to correct the scanning =practice that gives you the black borders in the first-place. We always =scan to an image file prior to conversion to PDF. However, if the borders =are a "feature" of your scanner (or technique) then you'll have to edit =the image prior to conversion to PDF (or else crop, which you don't want =to do).
The Windows Imaging software, basic though it is, will allow you to delete =zones from G4 TIFF images.
