If using Distiller 4.0 and using non-CMYK or RGB graphics -- ie:
Duotones/Tritones as created in Photoshop and saved as EPS's -- Distiller
4.0 will not compress the bitmap images.
Acrobat Distiller 5.0 does
Otherwise, it really depends on what the document contains; how many
graphics, fonts are used. Then depending on the Distiller settings, you
could get all sorts of sizes of PDF.

Big question, with no simple answer. What is the source file? Can you
heavily compress the bitmaps? Can you do without the fonts?
