Actually, you can (or could). There was a separate "Accessible
Reader" v. 4.05 for Windows that allowed the text content of a
non-secured PDF to be either saved as .html or .txt via a special
plug-in. That plug-in/feature is not included in Acrobat Reader 5.0
at this time; you can still download the Accessible Reader v.4.05
from Adobe's text-only Reader download page; (you could experiment
to see whether this 4.05 plug-in works the same with Reader 5.0).
