For the price you are quoting ($ 4,000 max) you may want to consider a =CANON scanner (DR3020 I believe) that does 18 pages per minute in =duplex, in one go, but black and white only. We are using those for =years now and they are very reliable. Should be around 3,000 $. =Supplement it with an ordinary separate flatbed colour scanner for those =images that you need to do in colour.

Good day,
I'm starting a small time paper-to-pdf business on 'the side'. The =scanner i'm currently using is a hp6350 (with ADF), it's a decent =scanner. But the most annoying part of the darned thing is that it =doesn't do duplex scanning and only has a very limited document capacity =(25). Although i don't have huge amounts of scanning to do (500-1000 a =week), i am interested in expanding my capacity...
I've been searching the internet for duplex scanners and i have found =a few, but they either do not have a price (Call, and that sounds scarry =;-), or the price is way out of my budget (DocuImage 620S $11,500). Is =there any such thing as a 'cheap' duplex scanner ($4000 max.)? I'm =looking for 300dpi optical scanning resolution that scans full color and =has a 50 page capacity. Or does anyone know of an adapter to transform =my hp6350 with adf into a duplex scanner?
My appologies if i sound unprofessional and clueless, but that's =because i am ;-)
