I became more adventurous and tried to convert to PDF another PPT file that contained a number of 300 dpi TIF graphics. By choosing the PDFWriter from my list of printers, the PDF creation went fine, but in the final PDF, the graphics look awful. I have heard this is one of the limitations of the Writer (not unexpectedly, given its name) - it can handle text, but graphics, forget it.
So I tried the other way - chose to Print to File with the PS printer selected. This generated a PRN file, which Distiller couldn't handle. So I changed the extension in Explorer to PS, and then tried again. Distiller could do the conversion BUT it didn't bring one of the colours with it, and the graphics looked as bad as they had in the PDFWriter attempt.
Would importing files in a format other than TIFs into the PPT file before conversion help? Has anyone experienced the most successful file format to use when generating PDFs from PPT using the PDFWriter??
