Topic: Capture 3.03 update (may) be here

I called Adobe today and registered for the update, which is currently distributed only on CD. They said that because of some (undefined) process or fulfillment requirements, it could take perhaps two weeks for me to receive the update.

Am I surprised? Yes. Am I going to moan and complain? No. Let's examine the situation, at least how it appears to me. (Please don't flame me if I have any of this not-quite-perfect.)

We have at least one well-known and respected forum participant (Hello, Duff) who is an established beta tester for Acro Capture. For good or ill, he has to work under a non-disclosure agreement with Adobe in order to participate in the program. He has dropped a hint or two here and elsewhere that an update, version 3.0.3, now exists. Jann has noted in a previous posting that 3.0.2 is not going to appear. That's all -I- know. I would =LOVE= to know more.

In the spirit of positive thinking, I'd like to launch two suggestions toward our friends at Adobe. (I hope that the walls have eyes.)

First, please launch a separate User-to-User Forum category for Acrobat Capture. It's a separate product with a life (and catalog number) of its own.

Secondly, please post the release notes -somewhere- for version 3.0.3, so that the Faithful Masses can determine whether they need to go through the exercise of requesting the update. And THEN, place an anonymous post on the user-to-user forum indicating where those release notes can be found. The way things are at the moment, I have to ask for the thing, and wait for delivery, before I can even find out if it will be helpful for me.

This is a wonderful and powerful tool, Eyes at Adobe. Please be more open with information about it. We'll all be better off.
