Veronica,
Well, I looked high and low in IE 5.5 on the home pc and found no way to
check the preferences for helper apps and plug-ins. So, my best advice
would be to reinstall either the plug-in, Reader, or full blown Acrobat (if
you have it).
I am thinking that your plug-in is corrupted. So if you uninstall and
reinstall either Reader or Acrobat, that should reinstall the plug-in being
used by IE.
Or, if you have Netscape, you might try using it instead? I know, I know, I
prefer using IE too.
Give this a try and let me know. Thanks for your patience.
Concerning the blank icons that do open -- often if a PDF is created on the
other platform, the icon will appear blank until after opened in Reader or
Acrobat. As long as the ".PDF" suffix is used, there should not be a
problem opening the file.
Hope all of this helps.
