I did this same thing several years ago with Acrobat 4.
Yes, it is time consuming and you will need lots of storage
space to archive the files. You'll need to pace yourself for the
long haul since this isn't the Capture program, but the paper
capture plugin. OCR'ing can be a plus in reducing the size of
the PDF that you store.
When you scan the files, do dpi tests to see which one you
prefer. Some dpi settings may be good or bad for screen
viewing and worse of better if you plan on printing this file
out some time in the future.
To help yourself, get to know Acrobat Catalogue to archive
the PDF's for the abiity to Index and find info easily later.
Was it worth it to me to get rid of the magazines, manuals
and tons of paper being stored in my home and have them
at my computers whim. You betcha.
