I use app.user as a part of my javascript code for generating a unique serial number for my forms users--

"Cedric Briscoe 10-05-2001 6:47am Form-PAR-0C3FE19C8286"

the users name is taken from the name listed in the annotations preferences dialog (which automatically uses the user name provided during install)

This works well with the full version of both Acrobats (4 and 5) as well as Business Tools.

NOW I am planning a move to Adobe Approval but the have TAKEN OUT the annotations feature.

Can I recreate this "app.User" call in another way?

I want the javascript the place the users name in the serial number but it has to be taken from 'SOMEWHERE?'

p.s. I did not see app.user in the javascript guide with Acrobat 5
