You've roughly defined what you are trying to accomplish, but it's hard to =understand why you want to make the variables persistent across sessions. =Please be more specific as to your reasons, and please indicate what you =have tried so far, and how it behaved.

2 more things:
1--File>Open may not be the way you want to go, unless there is a reason =you want the user to choose the file.
2--Mouse Down is probably not the event you want. It prevents a user from =changing their mind mid-click.
