For some reason, my mail seems to post with extra equal signs in it. The =correct format for the custom field search is one equal sign between the =field name and the search term.

Jb,
You can search custom fields in Acrobat by entering the field name=search== term in the Find Results Containing Text window. For example, if you ==have a custom field called color and you wanted to search for blue, =enter =color=blue.

I am in the ePaper business and a major tool we use is Acrobat to deliver ==our PDF's with. Myself and three other developers here can find many =ways =to customize the PDF itsleft like adding custome META fileds such =as =LGINumber or what have you. BUT the search function in acrobat was ==out-sourced by adobe and there are no build in fuctions to it. You can ==customize cataloge fields but the search within acrobat will not =recognize =them. I have been sucessfull in creating scripts that will =search and =locate the meta data in the PDF but no avail when it comes =to searching a =catalog with the meta data. The company they outsourced =it to is called =Verites or something....I could look it up but I am a =developer....anyway =on their page you can "purchase" a sdk for like a =1000$ that will search =all your data and you can add all the custome =fields you want. But untill =then I just grep what I need out of the =acrobat catalog...that seems to =work just fine.
