Sounds like you are writing the bookmark data in some Russian
encoding (8859-5, KOR, etc.) rather than as Unicode, which would be
the correct thing to do since Acrobat only supports bookmarks as
PDFDocEncoding (not helpful for Russian) or Unicode.
