If image-quality is a big issue, don't scan "directly" to PDF, scan to =TIFF, fix up your images, THEN convert to PDF. In all cases, image-enhance=ment should occur on a TIFF (or other) image file PRIOR to conversion to =PDF.
With the new batch features in 5.0, batch conversion from TIFF to =PDF/Image is simple and workable in low and medium volumes.
