Hi folks, it seems that my question has been answered many times over in this forum, but I want to make sure I am totally clear about my options for an upcoming project.
In a client-server environment, I need to programmatically populate the fields of a PDF form with data stored in an MSSQL database, show the populated form, allow the user to make changes and additions, save the changes to the PDF form, and store that PDF in our database. A user must able to retrieve, edit, and re-save the stored copy of this document.
It is my boss' goal to allow the user to accomplish this only using Reader -- he would prefer not to require our clients to have the full version of Acrobat or Approval on the desk top.
From what I have read in this forum, I gather that that doing what I described using Reader only would not comply with Adobe's licensing restrictions.
So - what about this concept of 'submitting' the data to the server in FDF format, processing the data into a pdf, and then sending the populated pdf form back to the user? I seem to recall reading that this too would be considered a violation of the Acrobat licensing restrictions - is this true? If this is the case, I'd appreciate it if someone could point me to the clause in the licensing agreement that prohibits this.
One more question: How is it that third party applications (for example, RapiDocs http://www.rapidocs.com) that do the exact things I need to do have been able to do so?
Thanks in advance for your replies...
