A user has come to us with an OCR problem when Capture3 tries to recognise UK Pound signs (?).
The pound character is never correctly recognised, but instead is interpreted as an 'F' or the new Euro currency symbol. As the user has a number of pages to Capture, all with price tables, this will involve an unpleasant amount of text editing at the QuickFix/Reviewer stage.
Weirdly however, if a value displays as e.g. '(Euro sign)500', it can be searched for successfully using '(UK Pound sign)500' as the search string.
Any one else had this experience? This occurs even on high res, mono scans, and - as the user pointed out - TextBridge managed to recognise each sign correctly. Dictionary is UK.
The simple front-end (and general accuracy) of Capture3 is great, but I wonder if it would be useful for the next version to contain a 'Learn' feature for more advanced users, similar to that in TB/OmniPage, as at present I guess Capture can only learn new words rather than new/difficult character shapes?
