Noel,
It is easy to incorporate this functionality into the 2 scripts that you already have.
You can then call those scripts from your 4 buttons and they take care of both the icon AND the visible field.

Attached is an example of what I mean.
BTW - I renamed one of your buttons -> 'Foward' is now 'Forward'...
