Topic: Removing warning from Launch action

Hello everyone,

I have a rather minor technical, but annoying
ergonomics problem. My client has a rather
extensive PDF product catalog with a many search
catalogs and keywords. They wish to add Launch
links to run an external program in various spots
to allow their users to see interactive 3D models
of some of their products (win32 platform only).
It is important to note that users will only have
Acrobat Reader 5.0 (+Search) installed -- not the
full Acrobat.

So far, everything is working swimmingly except for
one annoying nit: Acrobat Reader displays a
warning that is upsetting to many of our users. The
warning states:

The file "..." is set to be launched by this
PDF file. The file may contain programs, macros,
or viruses that could potentially harm your
computer. Only open the file if you are sure it
is safe. If this was was placed by a trusted
person or program then click Open to view the

Of course, this is a very sensible warning for many
applications, though not for all. In our situation,
the PDF file is from a trusted source, and Acrobat
Reader is running as a client-program,
essentially embedded with another program. Thus,
such a warning is superfluous and only serves to
generate confused user-support phone calls and
general confusion.

Does anyone know how to instruct Acrobat reader to
not display these warnings via either a command-line
option or a registry setting?

Many thanks,
-Kevin Jacobs

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
