I've seen a lot of people advise against using the PDF.OCX library, for some very good reasons. What I haven't seen is any suggestions for alternatives. Is there ANY ActiveX/COM viewers available from anyone? There are a hundred different PDF creators available, but I haven't found anything like the PDF.OCX that I can use in our applications.

I've seen Ghostscript/GSView, which are interesting but lack any mechanism to (easily) use them in my apps. Developing our own viewer looks like it's a major undertaking that we'd like to avoid.

What always surprises me is how often Adobe shoots themselves in the foot by offering some cool technology but never quite finishing it. Or worse, setting up their licensing agreements so that it's unattractive for developers to use Adobe for their PDF needs (which is why so 3rd party creators exist). If they want to sell more copies and licenses at least give me a product that I can buy and fully integrate into my apps! Arg...(enough ranting for now...)
