Hi,

I have written a parser and writer which reads and writes field and appearance objects to a PDF file. I set the '/NeedAppearances true' in order for Acrobat to generate the appropriate field appearance streams for each field. I also write back a new info, catalog, AcroForm, xRef section and trailer to the PDF file.

When I open the updated PDF file in Acrobat I get the message "The file is damaged but it is being repaired". Does this message imply that Acrobat is busy building the complete field appearance ?

From some of the posts here I have deduced that the message is normally displayed when some of the cross reference section entry offsets are incorect. To test I made exactly the same alteration to the PDF file in Acrobat and saved. Then I compared the XRef section of the Acrobat Saved PDF to the XRef section of the PDF that my writer produces and I cannot find any differences.

Does anyone have any experience with this ? I just spent the last three weeks writing this monster and if I am not able to suppress this message I will not be able to deliver the product.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a copy of the updated PDF file.

TIA

Shaune
