There are some controls in Distiller that are not
available in the Export as PDF dialog box in
InDesign 2.
And of course, there are certain enhanced content
you can only apply using Acrobat.
But it is entirely possible to use ID 2 without
Distiller at all to make PDF for both onscreen
presentaitons, eBooks, or final print separations.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
