Topic: Font Mapping?

I can now determine the width of a font using .NET. Since I haven’t used the new GDI+, it wasn’t a simple task. How do I map the values in WinAnsiEncoding with the fonts on my OS? Some of the fonts are easy, for example “/BaseFont /Time-Roman” obviously maps to “Times New Roman”, but some of the other fonts aren’t as clear-cut. I was also surprised to see the family font for Courier isn’t a monospaced font (Sans Serif?). I am still scratching my head on this one, because when you use Courier, it is obviously monospaced. Ironically, Courier New does map to a monospaced font. I am sure all of this is very simple and straightforward for some of you, but I am struggling with the relationship. What would “/BaseFont /Courier” map to, Courier or Courier New? I would guess Courier, because Courier New is a true type font, and I am using type 1 fonts. Thanks again to all contributors. –Clinton
