Topic: Programmatic Printing?

I just finished writing an application that generates PDF files for a web application. I would like to give the users the ability to print the PDF files automatically, and I was seeking the best approach to accomplish this task. The number of users is limited, and I could put an application on the client side to handle this task.

I thought about spawning a new browser window and bringing up the PDF file. This isnít a bad approach, but I would prefer the process to print the PDF file automatically. Is there a way to include a PDF file with JavaScript, and have JavaScript print to the default browser automatically?

I have thought about having an application on the client side that would connect to the server, get the PDF file, and print it. The problem with this approach is I donít know how to parse the PDF file programmatically; meaning some code needs to interpret the internals of the PDF file itself. Obviously, I can use Acrobat Reader and/or the browser to display it.

Is there a way to print the PDF file programmatically through Acrobat Reader?

Is there a way to print the PDF file programmatically through the browser?

Is there a way to print the PDF file without Acrobat Reader or the browser?

Can you direct me to a URL that is implementing an automatic (programmatic) printing solution?

Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Clinton
