Ester,

The parameter 'Resolution' of the 'Job Options' in the Acrobat
Distiller is also high valuable in the type correct position in the page
space.

In documents with a lot of text, this parameter can be critic, when we
increase the amount of text, the font point size and the page size.

I have developed an application to generate 'Calligramma' --images
reproduced with typography-- that test this parameter at all. In the
particular e-mail I?ve attached two PDF files of the same Calligramma
generated to 72 dpi and 4000 dpi respectively. Is a portrait reproduced
through the Courier font in 12 point size, you will see (if you put the
zoom 'Fit in Window') that the RES_72. PDF document distort clearly the
image rectangle to the right, but in the RES_4000.PDF the image is
parallel to the page margin.

As Aandi has answer in this forum, the effect of the 'Resolution'
parameter can affect the reproduction time of vector graphics (lines,
arcs, and B?er curves). For example, the calculation of the position
of a determinate B?er curve (p.e. using the 'instroke' operator to
obligate the curve to pass through a determinate point in the space)
can spend from 2 seconds (72 dpi) to 14 seconds (4000 dpi) when
Distiller 4.0 interprets it.

I hope this can help you,
