Connie,
1. The field doesn't expand but the text inside it will expand and
autoscroll as need be until the user has entered something like 32,000
characters, at which point he'd better be finished because that's all it'll
hold.
2. No, the field will not expand beyond the bounding box you originally
set. You would have to set a large, large bbox and leave it at that. And
even at that, you're limited to what will fit on one page. I am not aware
of there being any capability for a single text field to split across
several pages.
