Topic: Acrobat Distiller 5: Different Font Encoding?

Hi,

I'm producing PDF-Maps using Postscript-Export from Desktop GIS ArcView (from ESRI). I'm distilling many ps.files into one pdf-file and adding navigation
buttons and outlines via pdfmark. The problem is, that ArcView Exports the fonts as type3-fonts, which are looking scrambled on the monitor. So I must be able to change them with PitStop.

I have the following problem:
- distilling with Acrobat 4.05 and using pitstop 4.05 I can change my ugly type 3 fonts into Arial TrueType font
- distilling with Acrobat 4.05 and using pitstop 4.61Demo the same
- but distilling with Acrobat 5.0 no one of both pitstop versions works fine: the strings from my type3 fonts (T1, T2, T3 ...) disappear when changed to Arial TrueType font.

I think this is a problem of different font encoding in Acrobat 5.0?

Is there anything available or are there special settings in Distiller to solve this problem?

Stefan
