Topic: adbc and saving fields to ms access

problem: how do i save fields from a pdf file to ms access with adbc.

i can open the access file (with adbc) and even retrieve field values from access but for the life of me i can't seem to save field values back to access. here's what i get when i run the following snippet from the console:

// code follows
var con = ADBC.newConnection ("msa")
var sMent = con.newStatement()
var sql = "SELECT * FROM msa"
sMent.execute(sql)
var row = sMent.nextRow()
row = sMent.getRow()
row.a01FirstNameTp.value = getField("firstName").value
console.println ("getField = " + getField("firstName").value)
console.println ("row = " + row.a01FirstNameTp.value)
console.println ("lname row = " + row.a01LastNameTp.value)
// code ends

// what follows results from the console commands above (including the "undefined"?)
getField = Jan
row = Jan
lname row = Smith
undefined
// results end

while i am able to retrieve "Smith" as you can see, when i look into the ms access file, "Jan" is still not there.

since i'm not up to speed with odbc and there seems to be a paucity of info on adbc, i even tried using the sql UPDATE command with worse results.

help would be appreciated
