Topic: Applications ported to OS/390?

We have a large customer who would like us to port our FDFMerge
application to IBM OS/390 under Unix System Services. We have
already ported our SPDF Library to OS/390 using IBM's porting
facility in Waltham; so, we are familiar with and can effectively
work with OS/390. However, if we are to port our applications; it is
not feasible to rely on the porting facility for ongoing support and
maintenance of commercial applications. Therefore, we would need to
have an IBM Z Server in house for development and testing.

Either purchasing or leasing an IBM Z Server is an very expensive
proposition; so, I am looking for ways to justify the expense. The
easiest way to justify the expense is to find customers who are
running high production web services on OS/390 and are interested in
moving their on-demand PDF generation onto OS/390 using our products.

We have information from IBM on the installed base of OS/390
systems; but, the numbers don't tell us how many systems are used for
web services or production publishing. So, it is very difficult to
determine if the installed base would be interested in purchasing our
products.

Assuming we can justify the porting effort; we would be porting our
core applications: AppendPDF, AppendPDF Pro, StampPDF Batch and
FDFMerge along with several of our soon to be announced products and
our XML/SVG to PDF technologies.

With this note I am hoping to learn how many in the PDF community
are using and/or are interested in OS/390 for on-demand and/or high
volume production.

Please respond directly to me at mgavin@digapp.com.

Thank you.

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
