Topic: Closing child window with plugin

I am trying to close a child window that contains a PDF. The Acrobat plugin appears to load and take over the window. The child window will not respond to a close() JavaScript call. I have tried this with a web page and the parent can close the child. I know that I am not losing the handle to the child window because the function which tries to close the child window is executed in the onUnload event of the parent frame. I would prefer not to use an ActiveX command because I am trying to keep the Web app platform independent. Any help is gratefully appreciated.
