Topic: Getting Name info from Signatures

I am attempting to gather a single piece of information from a signature field in Acrobat. We have created a server-side application that uses online PDF forms to act as a full interface to a server-side database. One feature that is missing is the ability to store the name of the person who digitally signed the form. The name is in the signatures information in the left-hand frame, but I have not been able to find a way to access this piece of data.

I've tried JavaScript, by filling out a text box with the signature field's "userName" property upon signing, which gave me absolutely nothing. We've tried getting the FDF data and parsing it for the name, but all that is transmitted as the field's value is <>.

Is this even possible? It would seem so, since there would be no real security breach in programatically detecting the user name of the signature profile since it is prominently displayed information anyway. Being able to extract other information as well would be nice, but getting the name info for transmission to the database is very important.

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
