Topic: How to attach background image to PDF
Conf: (P-PDF) Developers, Msg: 53810

I have created an A4 image (ie 21 * 29.7 cm GIF) of our company's letterhead and am trying to find a way to programatically (VB6) load the image as a background watermark on an existing PDF document.

I am using the following code to open and select the document, but I can’t find any hints in the SDK to access the PDDoc’s background using the OLE. Has anyone an idea on how should approach this problem.

Stephen Miller

Dim AcroApp As CAcroApp
Dim AVDoc As CAcroAVDoc
Dim PDDoc As CAcroPDDoc
Dim IsSuccess As Boolean
Set AcroApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
Set AVDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
Call AVDoc.Open("c:\myfile.pdf", "")
Set AVDoc = AcroApp.GetActiveDoc
If AVDoc.IsValid Then
  Set PDDoc = AVDoc.GetPDDoc

' I think I would probably attach the
  ' background here - but how ???

End If

'Close the PDF
AVDoc.Close True

Set PDDoc = Nothing
Set AVDoc = Nothing
Set AcroApp = Nothing

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
