Topic: Need 'PDF reader' pop-up window in browser

I'm developing a web site that will have hundreds of hyperlinks to PDF files. I don't want to just code an " tag - because that will open the PDF file in the same browser window.

I want to code a little Javascript that will do a "window.open" to open a new browser window and then automatically launch the browser's Acrobat Reader plug-in to view the PDF file. The syntax would be something like:

I've got the "window.open" code working. What I don't know how to do is launch the Reader plug-in without putting another PDF file hyperlink in the popped-up window that the user then has to click on.

How do I launch the Reader plug-in in a browser script via a command-line?

Thanks!
