hi all

i've got a pdf form that is posted on a web site. it takes anywhere from 40 seconds to a couple of minutes to load depending upon user modem speed. (i'll work on this later.)

on the form are many little help buttons to explain more fully what the user should put into each of several hundred fields.

right now, i've got the help files written out to app.aler t but this is kludgy. further, i can't put in any active links in the files, as a result. ideally i'd like to be able to have the help files written in html but when i use this method, the help file takes up full screen on the browser and when i go back to the form, i have to wait for the form to reload...not good!

i'm rather new at this but i feel that javascript should be able to give me a new little window (using window.open(), maybe, or better yet, a popup) on the browser. then when the user finishes reading it, he/she clicks appropriately and the little window goes away, without the underlying form having to reload.

how do i do this, or is there a better strategy for displaying my help files?
