Topic: Password protection of pdf on a CD

My employer is looking for an Acrobat tool that will allow our users to view secure pdf files on a CD and use one password entered once and only once.
In other words, a user would be prompted for a password and then allowed free access to the pdf files on that CD with no further prompting for a password.
This may involve writing a plug-in and if so, I would also like any help learning to write such a plug-in. Either with a reference to a book or a web site or personal help with writing these plug-ins would be appreciated. I have the SDK, but it kind of assumes knowledge that seems advanced. I guess I may need some kind of "jump start" with plug-ins. Maybe.
One other feature we desire is the ability to have functionality expire after a set date.
Note: Currently the CD is set for allowing users to use Acrobat solely from the CD and not installed on their machine or, if they choose, they can install Acrobat on their machine and use it from the hard disk.
Thanks in advance
