I am currently using Compose with Acrobat 4 to create a list of publication titles contained on CD in PDF. This list is generated using the General Information Fields in Acrobat. My problem is you can only create the master table of contents based on one field. I know have a situation were I have 67 publications (PDF files) and I need to represent a selectable unit code along with the correct publication. I have tried adding both elements the one field, and the list looks to generic, since I have no way to format the generated list.
What I am looking for is a tool that will generate more than one field based on the General Information contained in the PDF file. The tool also has to fast and give me more control over how the information is laid out. Ideally just want a table with 3 columns. One for the pub title, one for the selectable unit, and on for the filename. InfoDate (Ambia) once had a tool called Aerial that provided this information using "the PDF Launcher", but development did not expand this feature. Aerial is not even compatible with Acrobat 4.
I know I could create a list in HTML that would open up the PDF files, but I may upset a customer who may not have an internet browser. With the PDF distribution I know I am supplying them with all the tools they need to print or read our technical documentation.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Please contact me at my e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org
