We have been searching and experimenting to find a complete solution for our companies web site. Our site allows our clients to log on and look through their commonly ordeered printed materials. When ordering they are presented with an HTML template and Form to fill. On the next page we create a very accurate(including EOT fonts) HTML preview for them to order or make changes to (go back).
These items include text inserted mid-paragraph into columns, headlines, dates, and border, map, & logo images.
As accurate as these pages are they are not good enough for print. We have been trying to generate a PDF version to be emailed to us and our client UNSUCESSFULLY.
PDF forms would almost work except for the font-family limitations. Writing our own ASP to parse a PDF template file is out of our scope due to text-flow problems. Our search for ASP packages and COM has lead to little help.
Is there something out there that wont cost us an arm and a leg? Is there a part of Adobes SDK that addresses these objectives? Does someone have a success story?
QuarkAPS looks promising but isn't out yet. A good demo of something like what we are trying to do is the French demo of QuarkAPS at www.printalis.com. We have all the parts of our site built with the exception of automatic PDF creation. My department will not be cost effective while we still have to type set our web orders.
