Topic: pdf export into vector files?

I wrote a 488 page book that exists only in Acrobat 4.0. Original files done in Ready, Set, Go! back in 1980 are gone. I want to put all these pages into a Macromedia Director stage at 320x480 for an interactive CD. Exporting them into Photoshop changes them to bitmap and looks terrible. We have wasted hours trying to find a way to move these pages into a vector based format that will be accepted by Director. A PDF plug-in exists for Director but does not display image until movie is running. Called Adobe, tech rep said he knew of no way to do it, others also are asking, told me to write Feedback at Adobe and complain to developers.

My kingdom for a solution!
