Our organization has two PDF files on an old disk which we now need to modify, but have misplaced the original source files and passwords. We are looking for a plugin
or program which can remove the standard Acrobat security features. Pardon my ignorance, but what type of editor program could I use to hack the security settings? A colleague did mention that the only way to accomplish this is with a "cracking" program & that there is a program out there for this (from Germany ?). We do own the rights to both files and so the "crack" will be legal.
Because the file allows for printing, we did attempt to print PDF to PS file and then use Distiller to create
a new PDF, but when attempting to distill it, we receive the error:
"%%[ Error: invalidaccess; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%% Stack: -dict- %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% %%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%"
Is there anyway to accomplish this? Please advise. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
