Topic: Print PDF's using VBA or Shell command

I am having trouble printing PDF docs using VBA code. Printing to the default windows printer would be fine, or I could specify one on the Access Form. I am using the PrintAll method - it acts like it is working, shows the "Printing..." dialog, but nothing prints.

Here is the code:

Dim AcroApp As CAcroApp
Dim AVDoc As CAcroAVDoc
Dim PDDoc As CAcroPDDoc
Dim IsSuccess As Boolean

    Set AcroApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
    Set AVDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")

    AVDoc.Open "c:\windows\desktop\back_cover.pdf", ""

    Set PDDoc = AVDoc.GetPDDoc

    AcroApp.Show
    AVDoc.PrintPages 1, 1, 2, True, True

    'Close the PDF
    AVDoc.Close True
    AcroApp.Exit

    'Cleanup
    Set PDDoc = Nothing
    Set AVDoc = Nothing
    Set AcroApp = Nothing

    Exit Sub

I have also tried using a shell command based upon a message I found in this forum. Trouble is, that posting was for Acrobat Reader 4.0 and I am using the full Acrobat 5.0.

Here is the code I have tried:

Const AdobePath = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"

Dim AVDoc As CAcroAVDoc
Dim strPrinterFriendlyName As String
Dim strLineToExecute As String
Dim strFileName As String

strFileName = "c:\windows\desktop\back_cover.pdf"

Set AVDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
strPrinterFriendlyName = "HP Laserjet 5si #1"
AVDoc.Open strFileName, ""

strLineToExecute = AdobePath & " /t " & strFileName & " " & strPrinterFriendlyName
Shell strLineToExecute, vbNormalFocus

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
