So you're not trying to reconstitute visual order, only logical?

Are you handling different types of fonts? Different types
maintain encoding information differently, including such issues as
TT cmaps, Type 0 CID information, Type3 charprocs, etc.

Encoding information can be in a number of places, the
original Font dict, the embedded font, and in the case of a FontFile3
in a Font dict, then you need to also look at it's Subtype for
additional information. And then don't forget to merge the encoding
table with the diffs array.
