> Is it possible to change the page numbering process in a pdf file? We convert long text docs to pdf - sometimes the first pages are not numbered or use roman numerals. When a viewer refers to the index at the end, the page number for the reference is the document page number, not the pdf page number. It's confusing, so I'd like to know if the pdf page numbers can be changed. Thanks.
You can change the viewer page numbering (the '## of ##' page reference
is in little window at the bottom) to match the same roman numerals (or
not numbered) for the first pages. See the 'Page Labels' option (only in
PDF 1.3 and Acrobat 4) in the PDF Reference Manual (section 6.2.2 , page
70) and also the PDFMARK Reference Manual (page 34) to play with the
'pdfmark' PostScript operator to accomplish that. If you need more help,
write me in private.
I hope this can help you,
