Using VB, what you want to do can only be done in Acrobat the full version -
not the reader. There is very little functionality that can be controlled
in Reader (printing, opening files etc) via InterApplication Communication
(IAC). There is a leap in functionality between VB5 and VB6, given the
choice I would go for version 6.
C++ can be used to build a plugin (not an easy task) that could perhaps
allow the functionality you want. The search engine in Acrobat is a Verity
search engine so I would consult the SDK to see what you can/can't do with
plugins - you may need to use the Verity SDK to get there..
You will find a search example for VB in the SDK/Samples directory, but one
of the components required to perform the searching (SRCHCOMM.DLL) needs
Visual C++ to compile it :), you will find a precompiled version at
AcroBuddies - but once again this example requires the full product to run.
Hope this helps.
