There are only two libraries that I know of that will render
PDF to images - Adobe's PDFLibrary (not currently available!) and
SPDF_CP from Digital Application (). Both
are high quality PDF rendering engines (in my biased opinion, SPDF_CP
generates better images because it anti-aliases not just text, but
also vector/line art, which Acrobat/PDFL does not).

Someone attempted to do a Java-based PDF renderer (jPDF -
), but development appears to have
halted some time ago, though you may be able to license the code from
the developer. Even so, keep in mind that it was a pretty basic
renderer.
