I'm not sure I follow the question, but instead of trying to do this
programmatically perhaps you should look into Form Fields (buttons). You
can add a (non-printing) button to the page which opens or switches to other
PDF files. You can also duplicate this Button to other pages in the PDF
file without drawing it a thousand times etc.

If you wanted to create the button across multiple PDF files in multiple
directories etc, then take a look at Dionis they have batch tools for this:
