PDF has no concept of "font attributes". Such things have to be
programmed yourself.

Correct. TextRendering is NOT what you think of as "bold
text". If you want bold, then you need to specify the bold version of the
font (Helvetica Bold instead of simply Helvetica).

For italics, you need the italic version of the font (ie.
Helvetica Oblique). For underline, PDFlib can do that for you using the
"underline" parameter.
