Hi!,

I'd recommend you to try out the Image Alchemy PS software from Handmade Software (http://www.handmadesw.com). With it you can convert practically any format to any other format. You can perform a lot of different actions on the images as well, which makes this software extremely powerful. It runs as a commandline tool on UNIX, although I'm not sure whether your machine is supported. They state on their homepage that they support HP9000/700 & 800.
